Yavapai County Primary Election Results

With most precincts reporting, Arizona has posted preliminary primary election results. Yavpai County has posted 71 of 112 precincts. U.S. Senate With about 50 percent of precincts reporting, incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain won reelection with 161,637 votes or 58.9 percent. He defeated challengers Jim Deakin, with 10.68 percent or 29.313 votes, and form U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth, with 30.17 percent or 30.17 votes.  McCain’s chief contender will likely be Rodney Glassman, who leads the Democratic party nomination for U.S. senator with 40,005 votes, or 32.1 percent. The city of Sedona is quickly moving forward with its plan to make business licenses mandatory for all companies doing business in the community. The Sedona City Council will consider instituting requirements at its Tuesday, Sept. 14, meeting to make mandatory business licenses law. City Revenue Manager Jodie Filardo said if council approves the business license proposal, it would go into effect the following month in October. The business license fee would be $25 a year, and other provisions on the licenses have changed over the past few months.
